My name is Patrick Shank and I am a graduate student at Temple University pursuing my M.A. in public history. I received my B.A. in History from Saint Joseph’s University in 2015, with minors in Medieval, Renaissance, and Reformation Studies, Philosophy, English, and Theology. I have interned at the U.S. Navy Museum in Washington, D.C., the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Historical Research Center,  Independence National Historical Park Archives, and the Independence Seaport Museum. I currently work as a historian and archivist at the Dietrich W Botstiber Foundation. My thesis “Below The Depths With USS Becuna: Reinterpreting Cold War History Through Submarines and Cartoons” looks at ways to use naval cartoons to add new interpretations to the Seaport Museum.
